Key Role
The Forecast Model Developer is responsible for building advanced models in Microsoft Excel within Scarsin’s enterprise forecasting platform, i2e -Integrated Insight Environment. Under the supervision of the Forecasting Services Director, the successful candidate will leverage their detail-oriented development mindset to implement forecasting models within Excel in i2e incorporating extensive automation and conditional logic. Scarsin leverages Excel to together with i2e enhancements to develop custom forecasting models to suit user requirements for specific projects. For this role, the ideal candidate will bring a strong object-oriented approach to workbook development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop advanced Excel forecast models which typically incorporate extensive programmatic functionality (VBA);
- Ensure the forecast model(s) meet the business and technical requirements laid out by the stakeholders;
- Use business logic, recognizes client needs and possesses very strong Excel skills to create forecast models based on best practice methodologies;
- Quality check completed models for adherence to specified business logic, calculation errors, and formatting;
- Remain current with technologies and best practices within the development space, as well as disseminating new best practices to other team members;
- Mentor other forecast model developers on the team and ensuring appropriate development practices are followed;
- Participate in client briefings to understand the requirements, take notes and prepare mockups/specifications to confirm understanding with client;
- Evaluate forecast models provided by clients for integration into i2e;
- Interact with cross-functional teams such as Data Integration, Model Development and Data Visualization teams in order to ensure tasks/projects align to business requirements;
- Participate in team meetings to align with team’s daily and weekly goals
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- A university degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
- Advanced skills in Excel Modelling, including formulas and functions, such as; pivot tables, reference indexing, VLOOKUP, SUMPRODUCT, SUMIFS, OFFSET, CHOOSE, IF statements, macros (mandatory).Strong skills in VBA for Excel
- Strong skills in Object Oriented Design;
- 2 years working analytical experience with forecasting models. Pharmaceutical forecasting experience an asset
- Knowledge of the following Programming languages:
- VBA – strong skills required
- C# VSTO Development – experience an asset
- SQL – experience an asset
- R – experience an asset
